ESPN’s FPI updates odds to win B1G following Week 9

The race to Indianapolis has taken shape with just a handful of games remaining for the contenders.
Remarkably, the top three teams in the B1G all hit a bye in Week 10. Minnesota, Ohio State, and Penn State all continued their strong play in Week 9 with each one remaining undefeated.
Of those three teams, the Buckeyes have been leading and continue to lead the FPI in terms of odds to win the B1G. They are given greater than a 70% chance to win the conference after rolling to an 8-0 record.

For Penn State, the Nittany Lions haven’t gained much ground in the FPI odds, but that is largely due to the fact that they are projected to lose to Ohio State in November. A win in that game would drastically shift things in their favor.
For Minnesota, the Golden Gophers are actually still behind two-loss Wisconsin in odds despite an undefeated record. Why? That has a lot to do with the FPI predicting Minnesota to have the toughest remaining schedule in the entire country entering November.
Here are the odds to win the B1G courtesy of ESPN’s FPI:
- Ohio State – 72.5%
- Penn State – 13.7%
- Wisconsin – 7.8%
- Minnesota – 4.3%
