ESPN’s Heather Dinich weighed in on the potential ramifications of The Game on Tuesday night after the College Football Playoff rankings reveal.
Dinich joined Rece Davis to talk about the likelihood of Ohio State or Michigan still making the CFP with a loss this weekend. Dinich explained that she believes the Buckeyes have a better chance of still getting in with a loss due to a Week 1 victory over Notre Dame.
“And Ohio State, if they don’t beat Michigan, guess who they (CFP committee) are going to be talking about? That win against Notre Dame earlier in the season,” said Dinich.
She added, “As you (CFP chair) Boo (Corrigan) talk about the difference between Ohio State and Michigan and Michigan’s nonconference schedule, the loser of that game, that’s why I think Ohio State has a slightly better shot (of making the final 4).”

Dinich points out that the Buckeyes’ win over the Fighting Irish might be impressive enough to clinch a playoff spot even with a loss against Michigan. Notre Dame also has the chance to eliminate the Pac-12 from the playoff discussion with a victory over USC.
“The Irish continue to be an X-factor in the College Football Playoff discussion,” said Dinich.
