A Michigan upset of Purdue on Thursday night could boost the Big Ten’s NCAA Tournament presence, according to ESPN’s Joe Lunardi.
Lunardi’s Thursday Bracketology update included a note on the 9 p.m. ET B1G clash on ESPN.
“Purdue would not lose its 1-seed with a loss at Michigan; the Wolverines, however, move firmly onto the bubble (“Next Four Out”) if they can spring the upset,” Lunardi wrote in his Thursday Twitter update.
Lunardi’s Bracketology currently has the Boilermakers as No. 3 among the 4 top-seeds, with Gonzaga No. 1 overall. Purdue, which has won its last 6 games, is 21-3 on the year and 10-3 in B1G play.
Michigan, meanwhile, is 12-9 and 6-5 against conference opponents. Lunardi has the Wolverines listed in the 4 teams after the “Next Four Out.” UM won Tuesday night at Penn State 58-57.
Lunardi’s next full bracket projection will be Friday. We’ll see where Purdue and Michigan stand after tonight’s game.
