ESPN’s Playoff Predictor has a new top 4, and it doesn’t include Alabama.
The top 4 teams with the best odds to make the CFP after Saturday are Georgia with a greater than 99.9% chance of being included, as well as Michigan also at greater than 99.9%. After No. 3 TCU and No. 4 USC fell on Saturday in shocking upsets, the predictor now has Ohio State making the playoff with an 82% shot at making the top-4.
Despite the Saturday loss, TCU still has an 88% shot at making the CFP according to the predictions. Sitting just outside the top 4 is Alabama at No. 5.
Rumors started swirling on Saturday after the two teams in the top 4 lost, setting up the possibility that the committee could put a 2 loss Crimson Tide team in. According to the predictor, that will probably not be the case, as Alabama has just a 23% chance to make the CFP.
Noted ESPN analyst and broadcaster Heather Dinich posted the predictions on Sunday ahead of the selection by the committee. Dinich noted that she was in agreement with the predictions, meaning Alabama would not see the CFP this season if the predictions are accurate.
FINAL Allstate Playoff Predictor … is also what I think the committee will do (noticing a trend here?)
