ESPN’s SP+ has weighed in on the Week 1 schedule for college football, and the system has predicted the final score for all the action.
The system – compiled by ESPN’s Bill Connelly – is an intriguing one and produces rankings each week throughout the season. It also spits out the results for game-by-game picks each week of the year.
In the B1G, there will be 11 games dotting the landscape of Week 1. Coming off of a Week 0 win, Northwestern is the lone conference team idle with Nebraska and Illinois getting right back on the field.
Crossover matchups between Penn State-Purdue and Illinois-Indiana are expected to be particularly close battles while Ohio State’s matchup against Notre Dame is expected to be closer than the 17-point spread. However, the Buckeyes are still projected as a double-digit winner.
Here are the full B1G SP+ picks for Week 1:
- Penn State 26, Purdue 22
- New Mexico State 3, Minnesota 45
- Western Michigan 13, Michigan State 40
- Illinois 23.6, Indiana 23.0
- Buffalo 21, Maryland 39
- Colorado State 11, Michigan 42
- Rutgers 20, Boston College 25
- South Dakota State 10, Iowa 33
- North Dakota 14, Nebraska 37
- Illinois State 3, Wisconsin 40
- Notre Dame 23, Ohio State 35
