Even Brauns, a Belmont transfer and Iowa City native, has signed with Iowa, he and the program announced on Monday.

Brauns is listed at 6-foot-9 and 240 pounds and has 2 years of eligibility remaining after he played in 91 games in three seasons at Belmont. In high school, Brauns was a teammate of Patrick McCaffery at Iowa City West High School.

As a junior with the Bruins, he started 29 of 30 contests played, and averaged 7.1 points and 5.4 rebounds. He also shot a team-high 58% from the floor. He reached double figures 10 times, pulled down double-digit rebounds 5 times and collected 4 double-doubles.

Last season, Brauns appeared in 31 games, including one start. Brauns scored a career-high 19 points to go along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals versus Bethel. As a freshman, he appeared in 30 games.

“Getting the opportunity to come home and play for the Hawkeyes is one of the proudest moments of my life,” Brauns said in a statement as part of the announcement. “I am thrilled to return home and play in Carver-Hawkeye Arena in front of the best fans in college basketball. I am excited to play with my new teammates because there is a lot of opportunity for new faces to emerge in larger roles this year. I am thankful for this opportunity and eager to give all that I have to the University of Iowa.”
