The biggest talking point from the B1G on Friday night wasn’t Rondale Moore, Mohamed Ibrahim or really anyone else who played in the game. Instead, it was about one guy wearing stripes who threw a penalty flag late in the contest.
Purdue quarterback Jack Plummer hit tight end Payne Durham in the back of the end zone for a touchdown to give the Boilermakers a late lead in the game. But offensive pass interference was called on Durham, negating the touchdown and dropping the score back to 34-31 in favor of the Gophers.
On the next play, Plummer tossed an interception and Minnesota hung on for a win. Below is the video of the alleged pass interference:

You can probably understand why Purdue fans weren’t too happy. But they weren’t the only ones ripping the officiating at the end of the game. Everyone on social media was talking about it.
Here was some of the reaction to the call on Friday night that turned the tide in Minneapolis:
I will set up a go fund me to pay whatever fine Brohm gets for whatever he says or does after what was just done to his team.
That’s as bad a call as I have ever seen.

Wow, that pass interference call on Purdue. Wow. If you see things that aren’t there, you can’t ref at any level. That guy is done. Period. That’s not a judgment call. That’s your eyes fooling you. You leave the profession tonight, after apologizing.

The officiating in the Big Ten is an abomination. They just affect the outcomes of games all the time. https://t.co/Bb32tcBxYM

Abysmal call that cost them the game. Wow.

Wow, that’s some lame stuff at end of Minnesota-Purdue game. Classic Big Ten officiating, where everything is a penalty even when it isn’t. Boilers throw apparent game-winning TD in final minute, nullified by non-existent offensive PI. Gophers win 34-31.

Still can't believe the ref called OPI on that. Brutal way to lose for Purdue.

I hope Purdue’s Jeff Brohm says to hell with it and goes scorched earth in his presser.

I can’t believe Purdue lost like that. Horrific call, and then Plummer’s first mistake of the entire game. Brutal.

Jeff Brohm is speaking The King’s and he has every right to. That’s a bad beat.

And then they missed the defensive PI on the pick? https://t.co/yzdNpBnM1t

It only decided the game. No big deal. https://t.co/Sz1CrIiZ3t

Makeup call for the pass interference on Minnesota defense a few drives back. PJ Fleck has been working officials, for just that moment.
