Ex-Illinois hoops star, NBA All-Star reportedly set for December boxing match

An ex-Illinois basketball star is reportedly getting into the boxing ring. Illinois legend Deron Williams is on the undercard for the Jake Paul/Tommy Fury fight on Dec. 18, according to reporter Shams Charania.
Charania is reporting that future Pro Football Hall of Fame running back Frank Gore is a potential opponent for the former point guard.
NBA-Boxing world crossover, per sources: Former All-Star and two-time Olympic Gold Medalist Deron Williams will fight on the Jake Paul/Tommy Fury undercard bout on Dec. 18. Frank Gore — third on the NFL’s all-time rushing yards list — is a potential opponent for Williams.

Williams was selected by the Utah Jazz with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2005 NBA Draft. Williams was a three-time All-Star during his NBA career from 2005-17. Williams captured Olympic gold medals in 2008 and 2012.
Williams was a consensus second-team All-American at Illinois in 2005. During that season, Williams guided Illinois to the Final Four.
