Ex-Maryland LB reportedly transfers to ACC program

Former Maryland linebacker Cortez Andrews has reportedly landed with a new program.
247Sports reported on Wednesday that Andrews will be transferring to Florida State to continue his career in college football. He entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal in December.
This would be a homecoming for Andrews, a native of Tallahassee. He was a 3-star member of Maryland’s 2019 recruiting class, ranking as one of the Top 500 overall prospects in the class. Andrews also was listed as the No. 29 outside linebacker for the cycle.
As a high school prospect, Andrews held several major offers. He picked the Terrapins over offers from Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Louisville, Missouri, Nebraska, Ole Miss and UCF, among many others.
Andrews spent two seasons in College Park playing for head coach Mike Locksley. He made an impact as a true freshman in 2019, playing in six games as a reserve linebacker and was credited with 6 tackles, including 2 for loss. In 2020, Andrews appeared in four of Maryland’s five contests and made 3 stops.
With the NCAA granting an additional year of eligibility for all fall student-athletes, Andrews will still have three years of eligibility to use with the Seminoles.
