Michigan is losing a young offensive line prospect, and his destination means he will likely be facing the Wolverines in the future.

Zach Carpenter was a member of the 2019 recruiting class and did not see game action during his freshman season. He was originally a three-star recruit and No. 20 player out of Ohio for the 2019 cycle.

Carpenter saw the field in 2020 and appeared in five of Michigan’s six games. He made his collegiate debut in the season opener against Minnesota before earning his first career start against Rutgers.

After the season, Carpenter announced his intentions to transfer, and on New Year’s Eve, Carpenter revealed his transfer destination. Carpenter has committed to Indiana to play for Tom Allen and the Hoosiers:

For the Hoosiers, this is a nice addition to an offensive line looking to build on a successful 2020 season. Hopefully Carpenter is able to step in and make a difference at Indiana.

It is currently unclear if Carpenter will be available to play immediately or if he will be required to sit out for 2021.
