Former Minnesota big man Sam Freeman has found a new home.

This week, Freeman announced via Instagram that he will be transferring to Pacific to continue his college basketball career. He spent two years with the Golden Gophers but was one of several players to enter the NCAA transfer portal after the school fired Richard Pitino and brought in new head coach Ben Johnson.

Freeman, a Justin, Texas native, was a 3-star member of Minnesota’s 2019 recruiting class. The 6-foot-10 center will be playing for a Tigers team that is coached by former NBA star Damon Stoudamire.

Over the course of his two years at Minnesota, Freeman appeared in 26 career games, 18 of which came during the 2020-21 season. He averaged 1.2 points and 1.5 rebounds with the Golden Gophers.

Last season, Freeman logged 124 minutes of action during Minnesota’s 14-15 campaign. He grabbed 27 rebounds, scored 19 points and blocked 6 shots during the year.
