Ex-Minnesota head coach Tracy Claeys lands job at Power 5 program

Tracy Claeys has landed his next coaching gig.
The former Minnesota defensive coordinator turned head coach was at Washington State to start 2018. Claeys landed there after being out of coaching in 2017 following his dismissal in Minneapolis. He resigned from Washington State this season as the defense struggled mightily to start the year.
Now, Claeys has landed a new gig in the ACC. Virginia Tech announced Friday afternoon that Claeys will coach the linebackers for the Hokies:

Claeys served as Minnesota’s defensive coordinator from 2011-15 before accepting the interim position in 2015. He was awarded the permanent position heading into 2016 and led the Gophers to an 11-8 record during his time as head coach.
