The New York Jets reportedly signed a former Northwestern DL to their active roster on Saturday. The news was announced by Pro Football Talk’s Josh Alper.
Ifeadi Odenigbo played at Northwestern from 2013-2016. He was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in the seventh round of the 2017 NFL Draft.
The Jets signed Odenigbo on Saturday.
Odenigbo has bounced around the NFL since his rookie year in 2017. The former Northwestern standout has had two stints with Minnesota, one in 2017 and one from 2018-2020.
He has also played for the Cleveland Browns (2018, 2021), Arizona Cardinals (2018), New York Giants (2021), Indianapolis Colts (2022), and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2022).
Odenigbo spent the majority of the 2022 season with Colts, playing in 13 games. He recorded 3.5 sacks, 12 total tackles, and 3 tackles for loss while with Indianapolis.
It’s unclear what New York is planning on using Odenigbo for, but he seems to be serviceable on the defensive line. If he can put up numbers similar to that of his time with the Colts last season, he should earn playing time.
