Former Purdue center Matt Haarms has trimmed down his list of options.
Earlier this week, the 7-foot-3 center surprisingly entered his name in the NCAA transfer portal after playing a significant amount for the Boilermakers over the last three seasons. Now, Haarms is looking to finish his college basketball career elsewhere.
Shortly after Haarms made his decision to hit the transfer portal, he had received interest from more than two dozen college programs. On Saturday, the 7-footer narrowed his list down to 10 teams he’s still considering, according to 247Sports:
- Arizona
- Arkansas
- Boston College
- BYU
- Gonzaga
- Kentucky
- Memphis
- Minnesota
- Texas Tech
- UNC Greensboro
There weren’t many B1G options for Haarms, but Minnesota is still in consideration. If he commits to play for the Golden Gophers, it would be a significant boost for Richard Pitino as the program looks to return to the NCAA Tournament.
This past season, Haarms averaged 8.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.0 blocks and 0.9 assists per game. He also totaled 210 career blocks, which ranks fourth in Purdue’s history.
Purdue finished the 2019-20 season with a 16-15 record.
