Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott is anticipating being hit with a suspension by the NFL, according to reports.
ESPN NFL reporter Adam Schefter said that there’s a “growing sense that (Elliott) could face some sort of short suspension,” for an alleged domestic violence issue that occurred in July 2016 with an ex-girlfriend.
“At some point in the coming weeks, Zeke Elliott will respond to the NFL’s report that is sent to him,” Shefter told ESPN. “But I think Zeke Elliott is bracing for a short suspension here.”
Shefter went on to say that the NFL investigation is pretty far along but it hasn’t concluded yet. And until the investigation is over, we won’t know what repercussions Elliott could face.
In his rookie campaign, Elliott led the NFL in rushing yards, totaling 1,631 yards and 15 touchdowns on the ground. He was a Pro-Bowl selection and was the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.
Elliott was picked in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft and was taken No. 4 overall by Dallas.
The running back really started capturing the nation at the end of Ohio State’s 2014 season, when he rushed for over 200 yards in each of the Buckeyes’ final three games en route to a national title.
