Kadyn Proctor announced that he’s flipping his commitment from Iowa to Alabama on Tuesday. Proctor is a 5-star OT from the 2023 class per the 247Sports Composite.
There was a mixed reaction from fans on social media following the news. Some fans were heartbroken, while others gave Proctor their best wishes. A few fans began to question what the point of signing a letter of intent is with the current state of transferring in college football.
Proctor was Iowa’s lone 5-star commit from the 2023 class. However, he wasn’t the only OT committed to the Hawkeyes from that class. Iowa still has two more OT’s signed up, one is a 4-star commit and the other is a 3-star commit.
Proctor maintained the connection he made with Alabama after visiting there on Jun. 30. As the year went on, Proctor started leaning more and more towards the Crimson Tide before flipping his commitment.
Here are some of the reactions to Proctor’s decision to decommit from the Iowa Hawkeyes:
😂😂😂 so just one question…. what’s the point of letter of intent signing with a bunch of hawkeye beat writers

I mean sucks he’s leaving, but he’s just a kid trying to make it to the next level. If anything, blame Iowa for not doing enough to keep him around. But don’t be a weirdo online.

“A&M bought every player on their team — made a deal for name, image, likeness. We didn’t buy one player, all right? But I don’t know if we’re gonna be able to sustain that in the future because more and more people are doing it. It’s tough.”

Brandon Scherff was a 3* who wasn’t even the top-rated lineman in his class.
Alaric Jackson was rated barely above a 2*. Wirfs only went to a 4* at the end, and his only other listed offer was Iowa State.
The sun will come up tomorrow. One lineman isn’t going to change this.
