Nebraska’s famous sell-out streak of 375 games will continue this weekend vs. Fordham thanks to a pair of “generous donations.”
The Huskers announced that news on Tuesday afternoon, saying the tickets will be given to “underserved youth.”
“We had two generous donors come forward and purchase the remaining tickets for the home opener so that we could provide those tickets to young people throughout the state,” athletic director Trev Alberts said in a statement. “These donors have a strong commitment to Nebraska Athletics and understand our history and tradition. They also have a desire for young people, who may not otherwise have the opportunity, to experience a Nebraska Football game day at Memorial Stadium.”
The streak, which dates back to 1962, was at risk after Nebraska’s 30-22 loss at Illinois in Week 0. The Huskers are now 12-21 under coach Scott Frost as he continues his fourth season in Lincoln.
Here are the details for how the Huskers will be donating the tickets, including a “red carpet experience:”

I’d laugh, but this is Michigan in 3 weeks for the 100,000 streak https://t.co/JGQLTofSRM

I know people are going to make light of this and say that Nebraska's sellout streak is hanging on by a thread, and TBH that's probably a fair statement.
But if fans/donors/the athletic dept feel it needs to survive, this at least is a really cool use of those tickets. https://t.co/2A0DZGgCKI

This is unbelievable. You hear this about FBS schools with such low attendance they risk being demoted to FCS doing this. You don't hear about one of the oldest football blue bloods doing it to save a sellout streak. https://t.co/C6O9oCFPTj

It saddens me to think that with all of the pain in our Nation, soooooo many Nebraskan's primary concern is that the @HuskerFBNation stadium sell out might come to an end.
