Who are “sources?”

And, can they be trusted?

Sometimes, sure. Other times, not so much. We often hear that “sources close to” someone says something and we take it for what it’s worth. However, when a father of a player says something — for example, Lavar Ball — people can take it and run with it.

Wisconsin QB Jack Coan has started 4 games this season mostly due to starting QB Alex Hornibrook and his issues with injuries. If Coan were to play in another game, he would lose his redshirt option for the season. However, that appears to not be something that the Badgers are concerned about.

Late Wednesday night, Coan’s father tweeted that Jack would be starting the team’s bowl game against Miami (FL):

Again, if Jack plays, his redshirt is gone. That means something.

It should be noted, too, that Wisconsin just signed the No. 4 pro-style QB in the Class of 2019 — Graham Mertz — earlier on Wednesday, so perhaps the Badgers aren’t overly concerned about a QB losing a redshirt year after all.

Wisconsin-Miami are playing in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl on Thursday, Dec. 27.
