The 2020-21 college football season won’t end without one final hiccup.

Sunday’s FCS national title game between Sam Houston and South Dakota State has been delayed because of lightning in the area of Frisco, Texas. The game was halted with 8:25 to play in the 2nd quarter. The game is tied at 7-7.

South Dakota State scored first in the game, thanks to a 1-yard run by Isaiah Davis to give the Jackrabbits an early 7-0 advantage. SDSU forced a Sam Houston fumble and was able to drive 41 yards in 5 plays, including a 20-yard run by Davis that set up the score one play later.

Sam Houston answered with a score of its own early in the 2nd quarter. Eric Schmid hit Jequez Ezzard for a 35-yard touchdown strike to tie the game at 7 each. The Bearkats needed just 3 plays and 1:16 to drive 56 yards and get into the end zone.
