Filip Rebraca explains what led to Eastern Illinois’ upset of Iowa

Filip Rebraca, like many Iowa fans after losing 92-83 to Eastern Illinois on Wednesday, was not happy. Rebraca talked about the factors leading to the Hawkeyes’ loss.
Rebraca led Iowa in scoring, finishing the game with 24 points. This season Rebraca is averaging 13.1 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game.
Rebraca believes that Iowa did not respect Eastern Illinois enough and that the team felt too good about beating SEMO on Dec. 17.
“I think we took them lightly. I feel like we were a little too arrogant,” said Rebraca. “After our win against SEMO, we were feeling good. We went up 18-4, we thought everything was nice and easy. We didn’t respect them.”

Rebraca noted how he thought Iowa did look right at practice leading up the game. Iowa needs to move on and rethink its goals, according to Rebraca.
“We played arrogant. I didn’t think our practices were really good,” said Rebraca. “We’d get stops in practice, but it wasn’t because of our principles and we’d be satisfied with that. We need to realize and reflect on it. Take a good look in the mirror and understand our goals.”

Iowa faces Nebraska in Lincoln next on Dec. 29. Tipoff will be at 7 p.m. ET on BTN.
