Five B1G defensive players have made the semifinalist cut for the 2019 Chuck Bednarik Award, presented to the top defensive player in college football.
Ohio State and Penn State each had two players included on the 15-man list. Wisconsin had one player listed as a semifinalist. Out of the B1G, the five semifinalists are:
- Chase Young, DE, Ohio State
- Jeff Okudah, DB, Ohio State
- Yetur Gross-Matos, DE, Penn State
- Micah Parsons, LB, Penn State
- Zack Baun, DE, Wisconsin
Last year’s winner of the Chuck Bednarik Award was Alabama’s Minkah Fitzpatrick. Below is the complete list of semifinalists for the award:
