With all of the chaos, unrest and worry that Hurricane Irma brought to Florida, it would have been easy for FAU to cancel its trip to Madison and forget about football for the week.
Instead, the Owls trekked to Wisconsin for last Saturday’s game against the Badgers. And Wisconsin was as accommodating as possible.
The Badgers defeated FAU 31-14, but that was far from the real story. Wisconsin’s athletic department allowed the Owls to use the facilities on campus for practice. A local Pizza Hut offered free food to the players and coaching staff and grievance counselors were made available to the team as well.
After Florida Atlantaic’s extended stay in Madison, the program had a warm response for the Badgers and the city of Madison, thanking everyone for all the help and support throughout Hurricane Irma.
Now that Irma has passed, we have to thank @BadgerFootball for their hospitality. Your department and fans are some of the best. Thank You. pic.twitter.com/CSXaaa19ZM

ESPN reported that the earliest Florida Atlantic could leave for campus would be Wednesday, but campus officials would only allow the team to return under safe conditions.
While the two teams were competitors on Saturday, Wisconsin and Florida Atlantic really showed what college athletics and true sportsmanship is really all about.
