The Chris Ash era is already gaining some serious offseason momentum. At least it is on the recruiting front.

On Sunday, he got another key commitment from a four-star recruit. And unlike the overwhelming majority of his growing 2017 class, he wasn’t from New Jersey.

Four-star Maryland linebacker Tyshon Fogg announced his commitment to the Scarlet Knights:

Fogg is the No. 15 outside linebacker in the country and the No. 6 player in Maryland. He has offers from California, Clemson, Michigan State, Ole Miss, Stanford and more.

That’s a major get for Rutgers, which now has the 19th-ranked 2017 class in the country (247sports). Behind four-star offensive lineman Micah Clark, Fogg is the second-highest rated recruit in Rutgers’ 2017 class, which is now up to 15 commits.

Even more impressive, it marked Ash’s 13th commitment since the start of April. His staff was fired up about the news:

The 6-2, 216-pound recruit is the second outside linebacker in Rutgers’ 2017 group. With his addition, Rutgers is now ranked fourth in the B1G behind only Ohio State (1), Michigan (4) and Northwestern (16).

He’ll add plenty of explosiveness to a program that is in need of playmakers on the defensive end:
