Former 5-star quarterback Justin Fields is reportedly transferring from Georgia.

On Monday, Dan Wolken of USA Today reported that Fields was intending to transfer after one season with the Bulldogs. At one time, the 5-star gunslinger had been committed to Penn State.

Fields served as a backup to Jake Fromm for the 2018 season.

Despite playing in a backup role, Fields played in 12 games for Georgia, and even appeared in the SEC Championship Game against Alabama. In a limited role, the freshman completed 27-of-39 passes for 328 yards and four touchdowns.

Fields also accounted for 266 yards and four touchdowns as a runner.

It’s unclear where Fields intends to transfer, but there is speculation that he could land at Mississippi State. That move would make sense, as Joe Moorhead heavily recruited the 5-star prospect while serving as Penn State’s offensive coordinator.

Fields had originally committed to the Nittany Lions but decommitted in the summer of 2017.

Georgia finished the 2018 season 11-2 and won the SEC East. The Bulldogs will take on Texas in the Sugar Bowl.
