In the Class of 2018, no running back projected to be better than Ricky Slade.
According to 247Sports Composite Rankings, Slade was the No. 1 all-purpose running back and No. 27 player overall. He was supposed to be the next big thing at the position.
However, during his first two seasons at Penn State, Slade hasn’t been the next big thing. He has produced well and been a quality back, no doubt.
But, he hasn’t taken the country by storm. Slade thinks he can do that elsewhere — and maybe some place else that doesn’t have as crowded of a running back room:

Slade rushed for 214 yards as a sophomore and 257 yards as a freshman. He scored eight touchdowns in two season with two coming this past year.
Again, Slade was battling for playing time among the likes of talented backs like Journey Brown, Noah Cain and Devyn Ford. There will likely be plenty of teams seeking to acquire Slade through the portal.
