Michigan State has been looking for a new AThletic Director following the news of Bill Beekman stepping down earlier today and it looks like there is a top candidate already.

According to Brett McMurphy from Stadium, Northern Illinois AD Sean Frazier is seen as a “top candidate” for the job.

As his tweet says, Frazier spent seven years as the Deputy AD at Wisconsin before going to Northern Illinois. It would make all the sense in the world for him to come back to the Big Ten as he’s been there before.

As for Beekman, his new position will be the Vice President for strategic initiatives. He first took the job as the AD in February of 2018 after Mark Hollis retired from the position. Beekman’s interim tagged was dropped in July of that year after he was doing a stellar job for the Spartans.

Until a new AD is named, Beekman will continue to run the athletics department until his replacement is named.
