Former Buckeye Dwayne Haskins makes NFL debut for Washington Redskins

Facing the New York Giants (1-2) in an early-season NFC East battle, the Washington Redskins (0-3) made a change at quarterback.
After another interception from former Houston Cougar Case Keenum in the second quarter – his fourth in his last two games – head coach Jay Gruden made the choice to go with the rookie, former Ohio State Buckeye Dwayne Haskins.

Haskins completed 2-4 passes for 15 yards, plus an additional 14 yards on the ground in the first half at MetLife Stadium.
A four-star prospect in the 2016 class according to the 247Sports Composite, Haskins redshirted his first year in Columbus before serving as J.T. Barrett’s backup in 2017.
Beating out current LSU Tigers star Joe Burrow and Miami Hurricane Tate Martell for the starting job prior to the 2018 season, Haskins went on to post one of the most prolific seasons in college football history. Completing 70% of his attempts, he threw for 4,831 yards and 50 touchdowns en route to helping the Buckeyes to a 13-1 season.
Electing to forgo his final two years of NCAA eligibility, Haskins was selected by the Redskins with the 15th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.
Off to a 5-0 start, the 2019 Buckeyes are ranked No. 4 in America and host Michigan State (4-1) on Saturday (7:30PM ET, ABC).
