Illinois opened up the 2022 season with a sound beating of Wyoming, 38-6 behind a strong performance from running back Chase Brown.
Brown had a huge game against the Cowboys, rushing for 151 yards and 2 touchdowns in the Fighting Illini’s victory last Saturday. His improvement did not go unnoticed.
Former Illini All-American Jeremy ‘J’ Leman discussed what he saw Saturday when it came to Brown and what he expects him to do the rest of the season.

“I think it’s obvious to see I think he is at a different gear than anybody on that field, he got a real unique ability to cut ever so slightly and not lose speed.”
Leman even went so far as saying he thinks Brown can have a huge year if he can stay healthy.
“I think he’s an NFL back, I think if he stays healthy in this offense. I think he can be a 1400 or 1500-yard back. I also think if he stays healthy, he can be All-Big Ten.”
Lofty expectations, but Brown did rush for over 1,000 yards before he got injured. If Saturday’s game is any indication, Leman’s prediction about where Brown could be headed if healthy really is not that far off base.
