Former Indiana WR/TE heading to FCS program as transfer

Former Indiana wide receiver and tight end Gary Cooper has landed with a new program.

Thursday evening, Cooper announced on Twitter that he has committed to Bryant University, which competes at the FCS level. The 6-foot-2, 235-pound ex-Hoosier spent two years in Bloomington but will have all four years of eligibility remaining to use at his new program.

“I’m Thankful for my time at IU and I appreciate all of the people who have invested in me to help me get there,” Cooper wrote. “I’m grateful for the people that I’ve met in my time there but it’s time for a change. With that being said I am transferring to Bryant University. #GoDawgs.”

Cooper played in six games during the 2020 season for the Hoosiers, helping the team finish with a 6-2 record. The Miami native did not record any statistics throughout the year.

In 2019, Cooper played in just four games and was able to maintain his status as a redshirt player. He totaled 2 catches for 15 that season.
