A former Iowa star might be on the sidelines for the Hawkeyes homecoming game on Oct. 7.

On Wednesday, Adrian Clayborn tweeted that head coach Kirk Ferentz had asked him to be an honorary captain for Iowa’s game against Illinois. The former Hawkeye seems excited about the opportunity.

Clayborn played at Iowa from 2007-2010 and was one of the top defensive players in the B1G. He totaled 192 tackles and 19 sacks and was a consensus All-American in his senior season.

He was selected No. 20 overall in the 2011 NFL Draft by Tampa Bay. He’s currently a member of the Atlanta Falcons.
