In what could be the latest in a long line of transfers the Illinois Fighting Illini have taken in, former LSU Tigers wide receiver/defensive back Mannie Netherly is on-campus for the program’s date with Rutgers on Saturday.
Jeremy Werner of IlliniInquirer shared the news on Twitter:

A Crosby, Texas product, Netherly was a four-star receiver in the 2017 class, according to the 247Sports Composite. After appearing in just one game as a freshman, he moved to defensive back and played in 11 games in 2018, recording three tackles.
Seeking a return to what is familiar, the Illini are courting him as a wideout.
“At this point, I’m just looking for somewhere that I can come in and make an impact immediately,” Netherly told Werner.
“I don’t know much (about Illinois), but they’ve caught my eye these past couple of weeks.”
Currently playing for San Jacinto College Central (Pasadena, Texas), Netherly will be immediately eligible in 2020 and will have two years of eligibility remaining.
Rutgers (2-6) at Illinois (4-4) will kick at 3:30PM ET on the Big Ten Network.
