Acheampong did not play in 2023 as he recovered from an injury. By redshirting, Acheampong has 4 full seasons of remaining eligibility.

A native of Cape Coast in Ghana, Acheampong arrived at Miami out of Santa Margarita (California) Catholic High School, about a 70-mile drive to UCLA campus. As a prospect, Acheampong was rated 4-stars, the No. 12 player in California, No. 16 defensive lineman and No. 158 recruit overall in the Class of 2023 on the 247Sports Composite.

Acheampong picked up 17 scholarship offers during his initial recruitment. He signed with Miami over UCLA, USC, LSU, Michigan and others. Acheampong did not publicly reveal which teams showed interest while he was in the transfer portal.
