Jourdan Lewis, a Dallas Cowboys cornerback and former star for Michigan, is expected to be ruled out for the season following a pick in the Detroit Lions game on Sunday, per Josh Alper with Pro Football Talk.
The former Michigan Wolverine standout picked off Jared Goff during the fourth quarter in the Cowboys’ 24-6 win over the Lions. While on the return, Lewis was tackled and carted off the field after reportedly suffering a Lisfranc fracture in his foot. On Sunday night, he reportedly underwent surgery for his foot.
Lewis will not be on the field for the remainder of the 2022-23 season as he rehabs his foot. For the Cowboys this season, Lewis started in four of the six games. He produced a total of 26 tackles and a sack to go along with his interception off of Goff in Sunday’s game.
As for who fills Lewis’ absence that could possibly be Cowboys’ fifth-round pick cornerback DaRon Bland who might see more playing time with Lewis out. The goal now is for Lewis to hopefully be well enough to get back on the field for the 2023-24 season.
