Former Michigan coach John Beilein could be back on a college sideline next season.

According to multiple college basketball insiders, Beilein’s name has been floating around as a potential replacement for former Boston College coach Jim Christian. The Eagles fired Christian on Monday after seven seasons.

Stadium’s Jeff Goodman, ESPN’s Jeff Borzello and the Big Ten Network’s Andy Katz all named Beilein as a potential option for the Eagles.

Beilein, 68, didn’t coach this season. He left Michigan following the 2019 season to become an NBA coach, but lasted less than one year with the Cleveland Cavaliers. He’s currently working as an analyst for the Big Ten Network.

As Katz noted, it’s unclear if he wants to coach again. If he does, Beilein has as good a résumé as anyone. His 12-year run at Michigan included multiple Final Fours, multiple Big Ten Tournament Championships and multiple regular season Big Ten Championships.

As for the Wolverines, they’ve rebounded well from Beilein’s departure. Juwan Howard has Michigan as the No. 3 team in the country with less than one month before Selection Sunday.
