In the age of  high depth and talent, even being third on the team in tackles isn’t enough to secure a spot in the NFL. Former Wolverine Carlo Kemp finished third on the Los Angeles Chargers with 12 tackles during the preseason, but was released from the team on Tuesday,

After going undrafted in the 2021 Draft, Kemp signed with the Green Bay Packers. After being waived by the Packers, Kemp spent time in the USFL, where he led the Pittsburgh Maulers with 5 sacks on the season. Kemp also finished No. 8 in the USFL in tackles in 2021.

As a Wolverine, Kemp played in 45 games, recording 81 tackles and 4.5 sacks over five seasons. After finishing with 40 tackles, Kemp became an all-Big Ten third-team honoree in 2019. During his 2020 senior year, Kemp had five starts on the defensive line, and recorded 21 tackles, and three tackles-for-loss for Michigan. He was named Team Aina’s Defensive MVP of the Hula Bowl in 2021.
