Former Michigan LB Josh Ross optimistic about Wolverines offense in 2022: ‘It’s going to be ridiculous’

Josh Ross won’t be wearing the maize and blue any longer, but the former Michigan linebacker is expecting big things from his former school in 2022. Specifically, he believes the offense is going to cause a lot of problems for B1G defenses.
Speaking at the NFL Combine on Friday, Ross talked highly of running back Donovan Edwards and the incredibly high ceiling for the rising sophomore.
“That dude was like one of the most mature freshmen I’ve ever seen,” Ross said, per Angelique Chengelis of The Detroit News. “I’m watching him meditate while he was in the hot tub and it’s like, freshman don’t do that. At all.”
Edwards rushed for 174 yards and 3 touchdowns behind Hassan Haskins and Blake Corum last year. He was also an elite pass-catcher out of the backfield, hauling in 20 receptions for 265 yards during a 12-2 campaign.
Edwards is just one reason Ross believes the Wolverines will be explosive on offense next season. With quarterbacks Cade McNamara and JJ McCarthy returning, Corum still occupying the backfield and a plethora of skilled receivers on the outside, there’s a chance Michigan can be one of the best teams in the country on that side of the football.
“I can’t even put into words how I feel about how our offense is going to be next year,” Ross said. “Our offense is going to be ridiculous.”
Michigan owned the B1G’s best rushing attack in 2022, averaging 214.4 yards per game and scoring 39 touchdowns on the ground, another league best. If Jim Harbaugh’s team can make the necessary improvements to the passing attack, the Wolverines will be tough to stop.
Ross doesn’t envision many opponents will be able to keep Michigan out of the end zone next season.
