There was plenty of criticism aimed Michigan’s direction following a 35-14 blowout loss to Wisconsin on Saturday afternoon. The disappointment was shared by everyone rooting for the Wolverines over the weekend.
That includes former Michigan offensive lineman Jake Long. But he was disappointed by more than just the lopsided final score. He wasn’t too pleased with the effort, particularly at the end of the game.
Long shared a video following the 21-point loss, showing the Wolverines walking onto the field with game already decided. He was pretty disappointed in that defeated attitude.
“Out of everything today, this bugged me the most,” Long wrote. “I don’t care if you’re down by 100, you don’t walk onto the field like that. Good or bad finish the game with a purpose.”

That was just one of the disappointing aspects of the game.
Michigan couldn’t stop Wisconsin’s powerful rushing attack, led by running back Jonathan Taylor. The offense couldn’t move the football until the final quarter, either. It was a good, old fashioned whoopin’ the Badgers delivered to the Wolverines.
For Long, it was the effort at the end of the game that stood out most. There are probably plenty of other former players who felt the same way, too.
