It looks like the Kansas City Chiefs have decided to rest star quarterback Patrick Mahomes in their regular-season finale.

Backup quarterback Chad Henne will get the start for the Chiefs against the Los Angeles Chargers, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter:

It makes sense that the Chiefs would do this as they have the No. 1 seed in the AFC locked up going into their final game.

Henne has been in the NFL since 2008 after being drafted from Michigan and has nearly 13,000 yards passing. He needs just 10 passing yards in this game on Sunday to break 13,000 for his career.

Before arriving in Kansas City, he played with the Miami Dolphins and the Jacksonville Jaguars. In four years with the Dolphins, he threw for over 7,000 yards with 31 touchdowns to 37 interceptions. In five years with Jacksonville, he threw for nearly 6,000 yards with 27 touchdowns to 26 interceptions.

For this season, Henne has appeared in two games for the Chiefs and has thrown for 30 total yards. We’ll see if he can take the Chiefs to a 15-1 record on Sunday.
