Former Michigan QB to have jersey retired at high school ceremony

A former Michigan quarterback is receiving one of the highest honors from his high school.

Denard Robinson, who was considered one of college football’s most electrifying players during his four-year career in Ann Arbor, will have his jersey retired by Deerfield Beach High School in Deerfield Beach, Florida. The ceremony will take place on Saturday, Sept. 15.

Robinson was an exciting and talented high school player, receiving several scholarship offers from big-time programs. He settled on Michigan where he enjoyed plenty of success.

In four seasons in Ann Arbor, Robinson threw for 6,250 yards and rushed for an additional 4,495 yards. He accounted for 91 total touchdowns in his career. He guided the Wolverines to three bowl games in his for years, including a Sugar Bowl appearance and victory in 2011, capping an 11-2 season.

Robinson was selected in the fifth-round of the 2013 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars. Despite playing quarterback at Michigan, he’s been used primarily as a wide receiver and running back in the NFL.

In four years in the NFL, Robinson amassed 1,058 yards and five touchdowns as a rusher and another 310 yards as a receiver.
