Former Michigan QB, WR break down game-winning drive against Notre Dame in 2011

Thanks to a furious second half comeback, Michigan topped Notre Dame, 35-31, on September 10, 2011 in the first ever night game at Michigan Stadium.

Ahead of Saturday’s top-20 showdown in Ann Arbor, former Wolverine quarterback Denard Robinson and wide receiver Roy Roundtree reminisced on the iconic final drive from over eight years ago.

Improving to 2-0 with the win over the Irish, Michigan’s 2011 team ultimately finished 11-2, dispatching the Virginia Tech Hokies in overtime, 23-20, in Brady Hoke’s first year at the helm.

Second on Michigan’s all-time rushing list with 4,495 yards, Robinson is also the program’s fifth leading passer with 6,250 yards.

Selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the fifth round of the 2013 National Football League Draft, Robinson would remain with the organization for four years. With his playing days behind him, he is now an offensive analyst for the FCS Jacksonville Dolphins.

Ranking seventh in school history with 2,304 receiving yards, Roundtree is also seventh on the program’s receptions list with 154.

Undrafted in 2013, Roundtree signed with the Cincinnati Bengals but was released prior to the start of the regular season. Beginning his coaching career as the wide receivers coach for Division-II Colorado State University-Pueblo in 2015, he is currently in his second year as a graduate assistant on Jim Harbaugh’s staff.

The 2019 Wolverines, recovering from a 28-21 loss to No. 6 Penn State on October 19, will host the No. 8 Irish on October 26 at 7:30PM ET on ABC.

Sitting at 5-1, the only game Notre Dame has lost was at Georgia on September 21, 23-17.

The back-end of a home-and-home, Saturday is the last currently scheduled game between the Wolverines and Irish.
