Ryan Miller, a goaltender at Michigan State before playing nearly 2 decades in the National Hockey League, will be inducted into the United States Hockey Hall of Fame, it was announced on Thursday.

Miller in 2001 won the Hobey Baker Award, given to the top player in college hockey. During his career, he recorded 26 shutouts, a record before Dryden McKay recorded 34 from 2018 to 2022.

The East Lansing, Mich. native signed with the Buffalo Sabres after his college career after they drafted him in 1999. He was with the organization from 2002-2014, with whom he won the Vezina Trophy in 2010 as the league’s top goalie that season and departed as the winningest goalie in franchise history. He later played for St. Louis, Vancouver, and Anaheim. During his 18-year NHL run, he accumulated more wins between the pipes than any other U.S.-born goalie in NHL history.

Miller, along with 4 others, will be inducted into the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame in St. Paul, Minn., on Nov. 30. It marks the 50th anniversary of the organization.
