Former Michigan State RB Kenneth Walker III had a dynamic rookie season for the Seattle Seahawks. Unfortunately, he is missing time in training camp with a groin injury.

On Monday, head coach Pete Carroll confirmed Walker is listed as week-to-week with a groin injury. Walker has missed 3 practices with Carroll indicating the team is not going to rush him or aggravate something.

“Yeah, because it’s a groin, we’ve got to make sure,” Carroll said about the injury per ESPN’s Brady Henderson. “He doesn’t feel bad. It’s not a terrible injury or anything like that. We just don’t want to aggravate it now and make it something that lingers through camp.”

The injury also stings with Carroll announcing former Michigan and UCLA star Zach Charbonnet has missed time with shoulder discomfort. Charbonnet was the team’s second-round pick this season, and Carroll said the team will “take some time” to determine what is going on with Charbonnet.

Kenneth Walker III’s outlook

Last season, Walker finished second in voting for the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year award but actually edged Garrett Wilson in first-place votes received with 19. Walker appeared in 15 games with 11 starts, assuming the lead role and never surrendering it after an injury to Rashaad Penny.

Walker stands to be the team’s starter if healthy when the 2023 season begins after rushing for 1,050 yards and 9 touchdowns as a rookie.
