Former Michigan State safety Dominique Long has announced his commitment decision after entering the transfer portal. He’ll be heading to the ACC.

Long announced on Twitter this week that he has committed to Duke. He entered the transfer portal following the 2020 season after four years with the Spartans. He will still have one year of eligibility remaining, utilizing the NCAA’s extra year from last season because of the pandemic.

“Excited to announce that I have committed to Duke,” Long wrote on Twitter. “I am beyond grateful  for the experiences MSU has provided me! Looking forward to this new chapter in life!”

Long appeared in 44 career games while at Michigan State and was credited with 51 tackles during that time. He also broke up 2 passes, blocked a kick and returned 1 punt for 9 yards.

During the shortened 2020 campaign, Long played in all seven games for the Spartans and tallied 13 tackles, 11 of which were solo stops. He was also credited with a pass break-up as MSU finished the year with a 2-5 record.

Long is one of several Spartans to enter the transfer portal since the conclusion of last season, Mel Tucker’s first as the head coach of the program.
