The Memphis Grizzlies will get a taste of Sparty, the NBA team adding another former Michigan State star in the NBA Draft on Wednesday night.
Xavier Tillman was acquired in a trade that sent him from the Sacramento Kings to Memphis at No. 35 overall. In Memphis, he will be reunited with Jaren Jackson Jr. as part of a rebuilding team that suddenly is deep, young and talented.
This past year was a bit of a breakout season for Tillman, the first year where he truly established himself as a starter. In 31 appearances, all starts, the forward averaged 13.7 points and 10.3 rebounds.

Tillman and Jackson overlapped during the latter’s lone season at Michigan State in 2017-18. That year as a true freshman, Jackson averaged 11.3 points per game and 5.8 rebounds in becoming a first round pick, taken fourth overall by Memphis in the 2018 NBA Draft.
He has blossomed into a star in the NBA, coming off a season where he averaged 17.8 points per game.
