Former MSNBC anchor, Michigan alum, threatens to boycott Disney, ESPN over U-M coverage

Former MSNBC anchor and Michigan alum David Shuster is threatening to boycott Disney and ESPN because of the coverage during the investigation into the Wolverines allegedly conducting in-person scouting and sign-stealing tactics.

During a series of tweets, Shuster, who is currently a part of The Young Turks’ Rebel HQ, blasts ESPN analyst Paul Finebaum for what he deems to be inflammatory takes on the situation that extend beyond sports.

Shuster continues to explain the damage he believes Finebaum is doing to Michigan’s academic reputation.

“This morning @finebaum accidentally spoke his truth and made things clear. This is not a fight over football or the reputation of a coach/team,” Shuster said.”Finebaum is out to damage the reputation of the entire University of Michigan, one of the finest academic institutions in the world.”

 

Shuster is calling for those with ties to Michigan to join him in calling for the firing of Finebaum and the threat of a boycott.

“I know others in the @UMich community will join me in the following: Dear @espn, either fire @finebaum or your channel will suffer more consequences than you can ever imagine.” Shuster said. “Enough is enough.”

Meanwhile, former Michigan standout and ESPN analyst Desmond Howard recently blasted the Big Ten  for circumventing the NCAA process regarding the investigation.

No. 3 Michigan travels to face No. 10 Penn State this Saturday.
