Pelini was the defensive coordinator at Nebraska from 2008 through 2011. He was named the head coach at Florida Atlantic in 2012 but only coached the Owls for a season-and-a-half. He resigned after being confronted by Florida Atlantic University’s president about potential illegal drug use.
Pelini coached just 20 games, posting a 5-15 record.
In 2015, he joined his brother’s staff at Youngstown State, becoming the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach.
Bowling Green fired defensive coordinator Perry Eliano after the Falcons had one of the worst defensive seasons in the country statistically. Bowling Green surrendered 506 yards and 38 points per game.
The Falcons finished the year 5-7.
