Former Nebraska standout Khalil Davis is back in the NFL. The Houston Texans announced Monday that they have signed Davis.

Davis was most recently in the USFL, helping the Birmingham Stallions win the league’s championship. Davis appeared in 9 games (2 starts), recording 29 tackles and 1 sack.

Davis played at Nebraska from 2015-to-2019, capping his college career by being named third-team All-Big Ten in his final season. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected Davis with the No. 194 overall pick in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

As a rookie, Davis collected a Super Bowl ring as a member of the Bucs. He was waived by the club during the 2021 season.

The Indianapolis Colts claimed Davis on Oct. 5, 2021, but waived him before the end of the month. He played in 1 game for the Colts.

After Davis’ brief stint with the Colts, he signed to the Pittsburgh Steelers practice squad. The Steelers kept Davis around for the 2022 offseason but waived him when making roster cuts before the regular season.

In 2022, Davis spent time on the practice squads of the Bucs and the Los Angeles Rams.
