Former Nebraska OL Cole Pensick has tragically passed away at the age of 32. Pensick was pronounced dead at the scene of a one-vehicle crash in Polk County Saturday morning.

The Omaha World-Herald details that the crash occurred about 14 miles southwest of Columbus, Nebraska.

The crash occurred about 6:45 a.m. at 141st and Q Roads.

Investigators determined that Pensick was driving a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado westbound on 141st when it went through a stop sign at a “T” intersection. The pickup truck left the roadway and came to a rest in some trees.

Pensick, who played for Lincoln Northeast High School, was a member of the Cornhuskers from 2009-to-2013. He redshirted his first season as a defensive tackle and worked with the scout team. Over the next 4 seasons, he played in 36 games, making 14 starts.

Twelve of Pensick’s 14 starts came in the 2013 season when he helped the Huskers lead the Big Ten in rushing. His versatility to play guard and center was useful as the offensive line dealt with numerous injuries in 2013.

Big Ten coaches named him Second-Team All-B1G for the 2013 season. He also won the Cletus Fischer Native Son Award in his final year.

Pensick earned his Nebraska degree in December 2012 and completed 2 semesters of graduate courses in the 2013 season.
