Former Northwestern DBs coach Jerry Brown tweets about not traveling with team to Purdue

If you’re a Northwestern football fan, you know the name Jerry Brown.
Brown was referred to as “the dean of the Wildcat coaching staff” by nusports.com. He spent his 25th season with the program in 2017 and retired after the team’s 24-23 bowl win over Kentucky. Brown is now, for the first time in a quarter of a century, not employed by the program.
On Tuesday night, just two days before the Wildcats’ 2018 season opener on the road against Purdue, he wrote out a message on Twitter:
For the first time in 25 years I will not be traveling with the football team to the game vs Purdue. You can be sure that I will be with the team mentality and emotionally to help WIN the game Thursday night. Best of luck to the staff and team- GO CATS-WIN

Brown started coaching at Northwestern in 1993 and started serving as the assistant head coach in 2002. He is also a Northwestern alum.
The Wildcats’ opener against Purdue is set to kick off at 8 p.m. on Thursday with the game being televised on ESPN. Brown will certainly be watching and we know exactly which team he will be cheering for.
