Former Ohio State DB, 1st-round pick arrested for assault with deadly weapon

Former Ohio State defensive back and first-round selection Damon Arnette is in trouble with the law again. An arrest early Saturday morning led to the ex-Buckeyes’ departure from the Kansas City Chiefs after nine days.

TMZ Sports is reporting that Arnette was arrested in Las Vegas Saturday morning and is being charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, two counts of illegal drug possession and one count of carrying a concealed weapon without a permit.

NFL.com’s Tom Pelissero reported that the Chiefs released Arnette:

Arnette allegedly threatened a valet with a gun after attempting to retrieve without a valet ticket. The incident took place outside the Park MGM Las Vegas hotel. It’s Arnette’s second act that has led to a release from an NFL team since November.

In November, Arnette released a video of himself brandishing a gun and making death threats. He was released by the Las Vegas Raiders shortly after that recording was released. Arnette was also being sued by a woman for a hit-and-run incident that reportedly left her unconscious.

Arnette played at Ohio State from 2015-19 and was a first-round selection in the 2020 NFL Draft. He was picked up by the Raiders.
